Guam theaters delay reopening due to lack of first-run films

They’ve got the big screens and lots of seats and they’ve made provisions for COVID-19 sanitation and social distancing, but local movie houses have yet to figure out how to get the first-run films to bring in the customers.

Kit Lanuza, general manager of Tango Theatres in the Micronesia Mall, said his theaters won’t be reopening at the end of July as had been hoped, largely because they have no new films to show.

“’Unhinged’ was supposed to open (July 31) but it was removed from the release calendar.” Lanuza said. “The last I heard it will be opening Aug. 21. ‘Mulan’ and ‘Tenet’ are supposed to open in August, but they were also removed from the calendar.”
