One individual has tested positive for COVID-19 in the CNMI, according to a release from the Governor’s COVID-19 Task Force and the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation on Saturday.
The positive test brings the CNMI overall case count to 43 since tracking began on March 28.
The CNMI resident was identified through travel screening, according to the release. The person is in quarantine and has been moved to a designated isolation area for monitoring. Contact tracing for the person’s most immediate contacts has already begun, said the release.
Of the 19 cases confirmed through travel screening, 18 originated from the U.S. mainland and the other from a U.S. territory. Those 19 cases represent 44% of the total confirmed cases.
