A second employee of Mercy Heights Catholic Nursery & Kindergarten tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, according to an Archdiocese of Agana news release.
Both employees are faculty members and are under isolation and the archdiocese is working with the Department of Public Health and Social Services to coordinate COVID-19 testing for some students.
Public Health is trying to determine the students identified as having close contact by guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Public Health is contacting the parents and will provide guidance, the release stated.
The school in Oka is temporarily closed as it undergoes professional deep cleaning and sanitization. It won’t reopen until Nov. 30.
A teacher tested positive Nov. 20 and notified principal Belen Defant Saturday. The latest person to test positive was known to have close contact with the first individual and received immediate assistance by the archdiocese to undergo testing, the release stated. The second teacher informed the principal of the positive results today.
